Food ServicesTulare District Hospital has contracted with the world’s largest food service company to manage its food services and environmental services departments. Sodexho Alliance took over management of the two departments in early 2005. The world-wide company has a long history of providing food and environmental services in healthcare nationwide, with over 40 hospitals in California alone. Patients are served breakfast between 7:15 a.m. and 7:45 a.m., lunch between 11:30 a.m. and noon, and dinner between 5:15 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. If a family member or friend wants to eat in the room, the person may go to the cafeteria, buy a meal there and take it back to the room. Or, if preferred, a guest meal tray can be delivered to the patient’s room for a cost of $5 Café 869 Set up like a deli, the café features a “Main Entrée Well Station” where freshly cooked dishes are offered; a Pizza Gusta/Grill Express; an open air refrigerator “Grab and Go”; a gourmet brewed coffee and beverages station; a condiment station and at the checkout, a display of quick grab items. The cafeteria presently serves 200 patient meals and about 400 other meals a day. Vending Machines
